Resolutions Update

I was actually serious when I said I was going to keep track of how well I've been following my New Year's Resolutions. An update at the beginning of the month should be enough, let's see how I've been doing.

Goal 1:

So I've been following the push-up guide and it's coming along I think. I'm a bit behind schedule because I'm kind of a weakling and some days, I just can't do the required number of push-ups.

It's been way too long since I used a picture of Byran.

Thus I've had to repeat some days until my puny body is capable. If my math is correct I am currently able to do 100 nonconsecutive push-ups. This is coming from the guy who started out barely able to do 20 so that's an improvement. It's really not that hard to commit to this, I tend to do a set after a round of Starcraft, a chapter of studying, etc. etc..

Goal 2:

I found this goal of trying to earn more money to be too vague. I'm working twice a week now at my part-time job but I don't that really counts. I'm adding on paying back my parents for my tuition. At my last count it was at $5500. I have less than $3000 in the bank. I need to find a way to pay them back and still be able to buy things for myself.

I haven't been sitting around in January however, I've been reapplying for that internship and right now, it's pending. The application is sitting in some bureaucratic nonsense and the job list opens up in two weeks. I was told I'll probably get in but that's not helping my nerves, at all.

This van is "probably" legit.

Goal 3:

This goal has been going well. In January I not only tried to make a different soup, but I also semi-successfully baked brownies. I know a lot of people have asked on my progress on the hollow book and all I can say is that I'm almost done cutting.

If you find a neat guide or recipe feel free to suggest it on the comments. I seriously look through these and consider doing the ones that are within my ability.

Goal 4:

Believe it or not, I did read a book in January, I just never got around to doing a review of it. Expect a post on it sometime in the near future.

No it was not this book but I wish it could have been.

And that's my update so far, I'm on track at the moment. Yeah, my goals may not be the most amazing "I'm going to change the world and become the next Ghandi!" types, but they're realistic, and I'm actually following them.

How are the rest of you fairing?

  2. Glad to hear results have varied from being mixed to good for you when it comes to resolutions man, keep up with it and stay motivated and I know you can follow through with them. It's important to not forget what made you make these resolutions now it's January, that's most important buddy.

  4. Hey you're doing good. You're touching all the bases. Could be a little better? Sure maybe, but you're doing more than a lot out there are. Impressive!

  5. omg I remember the Stinky Cheese Man book from when I was younger lol. Keep up the push ups and eventually you'll get there. I can do about 50 consecutive push ups myself and im trying to get better at it. Good luck on the internship!

  6. We all miss the picture of Bryan, and that van is totally legit. I hope you get the internship. You've done pretty good so far, keep it up. I'm doing okay with mine. I've upped how much I work out and stuck with it consistently, but my eating habits weren't as good as I thought they were, so I haven't lost much weight.

  7. I started the hundred pushups but failed to continue. I will start again!

  9. Actually keeping the resolutions that is a rare feat in and of itself. I can do about 20 pushups consecutively, so got me beat.

  13. Stinky Cheese Man. I read that majestic story a million times throughout my childhood. It's the best story ever written. Damn, I'm having a nostalgia attack.

  19. Hooray for your goals! I love making hollowed books!

  20. I try to set myself short-term goals, like not spending 75% of my allowance within the first five days. Unless you didn't guess, I already bombed that one.

Keep at it with them pushups! Twenty sounds astronomical to me, so I am impressed.

  21. I've never made New Year resolutions - and I'm sure I wouldn't keep them if I did. Nice work so far :) good for you!

  22. I'm kind of fucking up on my pushups schedule. Haven't done shit in two weeks now. Mainly because of busy school stuff, but also because I can't be fucking bothered right now.

Maybe I'll start over, but use the 200-situps program instead.

  23. Realistic goals are always the best kind, I guess.

In the case of push ups, it's incredible what are bodies are able to do with some practice.

  24. 100 nonconsecutive push-ups? What we need is a BEFORE and an AFTER picture! As an ex-Rambo, allow me to give you a word of advice. 30 slow ones add more muscle than 100 quick ones. Also don't forget to drink a couple of protein shakes a day. :)

  25. I was starting to workout more consecutively until I sprained my wrist two weeks ago =/ it's a lot better now but I fell off the wagon a bit.

  26. Nice post bro, Its good to hear you are striving for you goals, The candy car stood out a lot :L

    following!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Keep up with those goals, just make sure they are actually attainable though.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I, on the other hand, am half way to becoming the next Ghandi. I've taken to wearing nappies, spectacles and no hair.

Glad to see you're making progress.

    ReplyDelete
  29. looks like things are going pretty well, at least so far! Well, except for maybe the money, but who doesn't have problems with that?

    ReplyDelete
  30. I admire you make resolutions, ha, to this year I dont make any!!(LOL)

    ReplyDelete
  31. I never make resolutions. Ever. Alternatively I think about things I shouldn't do instead of things I should (like gorge myself with chocolate cake, the way that fat kid in matilda did).

    ReplyDelete
  32. why would you pay back the money to your parents? It's their role and duty as parents to send their kids through school and college, not their gift or good will. You will need the money for grown up life.

    1. I think you should pay your parents back when you've finished studying and have a full time job.

  43. We HAD a Stinky Cheese man in our neighborhood! Well, it was either his delicatessen. Or his feet.
In either event, we never went into his store. Stinky Cheese played hell with the penny candy.

  44. You are right on track...fingers crossed for the internship!!!

    PS...I'm still impressed about your cooking/baking :)

  45. that van and book are too funny:) to me, that's major progress what you have described. i fail at resolutions pretty much categorically.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Sounds like you are doing really well with your goals. I love that candy van hahaha.
Oh, and push ups just scare me ;)

    ReplyDelete
  47. 100 push ups consecutive or not is quite an accomplishment kiddo. Don't sell yourself short.

I could do that many too if you'd just remove those pesky 00s'.:)

    ReplyDelete
  48. Hooray for being on track with your goals!

I read that story about the stinky cheese man at some point. I've forgotten most of it now . . . though I did read a book by the author's daughter.

    ReplyDelete
  49. keep up the good work....my press-up routine fell by the wayside after the first week lol

    ReplyDelete
  50. Keeping up with New Year's resolution should be on the list of New Year's resolutions. I haven't kept up with any of my resolutions.

At least you kept up with most of your and seem to be doing a pretty good job.

The book you read in January, how was it? I have seen this book numerous times at the bookstore and stuff but I never had a chance to pick it up to read what it is about.
    Do you recommend the book?

    ReplyDelete
  51. I think it is great that you are tracking the progress of your goals! You'll make it my friend :)

  52. Ten bucks if you actually throw Bryan down a flight of stairs and take a picture of it...

  53. I've read "The Stinky Cheese Man" book! It's a fun little book! :)

  55. Not gonna lie, I'd love to read that stinky cheese man book! Good for you for still keeping such good track of your resolutions :D

    ReplyDelete
  56. Keep going ! juts keep going ! :D

    ReplyDelete
  57. I read somewhere that resolutions are pretty much useless as you should only set a goal that you actually will work towards rather than setting it just as a one time thing for a special occasion.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I didn't even make a resolution. Hah!

    ReplyDelete
  59. that's really good, most people i know have given up by Feb

    ReplyDelete
  60. Nice, I am glad to see that you have worked your way up to 100 pushups per day. I need to get past my 60 mark, I have been working at it, and you give me hope that I can make it!

    ReplyDelete
  61. stinky cheese man book is so fun.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I kept breaking mine so haven't set one for this year yet. Just "no regrets"...which I may already regret? =P

    ReplyDelete
  63. I kinda don't remember if I even had any goals... lol... I do like the name of that book though. Also I like that van.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I didn't have any resolutions for this year but I made a goal to try harder in everything I do. So far, everything's the same. If only I have a more specific goal as yours then I might have done better.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Atleast you're trying man. I'm just too lazy to do my resolutions.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Great job on push ups. Also look up for Italian wedding soup recipes. They are good for winter. My husband and my kids love it.

    ReplyDelete
  67. You know, I stopped setting resolutions because I thought I'd just forget about them, but not setting is like not trying. Which... means you don't even get a little bit done.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Congrats on sticking to your goals! My New Years Resolution was to get a new job. I am happy to say I have been putting out my application everywhere and I even sent one to a law firm I feel will be really promising.

  69. Funny Bryan picture, Nice goals and 100 pushups! Thats aloT!!
