And you guys can laugh at me if I should fail due to laziness.
A big problem for a lot of people with these things is that they set vague or unrealistic goals. I know I've been pretty bad for vague goals myself. Thus, let's fix that right now.
Goal #1:
I'm a skinny guy, really skinny. Like, I'm borderline anorexic skinny. My girlfriend Theresa saw me without my shirt once and she told me I looked like one of those starving Africans you see from National Geographic.
Now I know it's unrealistic to become a bodybuilder and if I say "I'm going become healthier next year" nothing's going to happen. So let's try this instead. The link I provided is a site that claims by the end of 6 weeks you should be able to do 100 push ups. At the moment, I can do 20 so let's see what happens.
And maybe you'll see some meat on me.
Goal #2:
I am in need of money. A part time job just isn't going to pay for tuition or spoil Theresa. I'm going to need to find an additional source. Whether that's through an internship, this blog, or some crazy idea I find online I need to try it.
The goal here is to try a new thing each month and report on its success and/or failings. Yes I did mention I was making some profit with this blog but unless I'm making more than minimum wage it's not something to boast about.
EDIT:
Added requirement of trying to pay back debt of $5500 to parents.
Goal #3:
Too often I tell myself "That looks neat, I should really try it" and then I never get around to doing it. This include recipes, small projects, and places to go to. The goal here is to try at least one new thing each month and post about it. I need to learn how to cook, I want to make that hollow book and take Theresa out to that restaurant.
Actually for the longest time I've wanted to start a blog so I guess yay for me?
Woohoo!
Goal #4:
I have an obsession with the number 4. So I need a 4th goal if it kills me. Uhhh...
Uhhh....
. . . .
You have no idea how long I spent in this pose.
You know what? You guys decide for me. Long time readers will have a better idea of what to chose but I'm good with whatever. I'll pick the best one from the comments and hopefully it won't be something like eat 100 endangered species or set yourself on fire for a minute.
And that's it from me. I'll see you guys in the New Year!
Edit: Thanks to D4 and Heddin for their combined suggestion of completing a game from my backlog and/or reading a new book each month!
Eat 100 endangered species while they're on fire.
ReplyDeleteSrsly do it.
You do have a good set of attainable goals though, and you're doing something different and good by keeping us up to date.
I'm going to suggest learning to dance, just because I think every gentleman should know how to dance. I mean real dances too, not bodypopping. Take your girl out somewhere fancy and show her you know your way around a well cleaned floor.
I'm not going to suggest a resolution man but make sure you have a good one. Good luck with these and here's hoping you have a great 2012!
ReplyDeleteI've not made resolutions for the past ten years or so, but even when I did, they were vague as hell - like 'smile more' or something weird like that. For your no 4, maybe you could set a goal of completing assignments like say 1 whole day/week (depending on your deadline, of course) before the actual due date or something?
ReplyDeletethis is really funny. happy new year!
ReplyDeletehowever i don't know what to suggest as number four. i'm obsessed with 6, so if you arrive there, we'll discuss it haha
jos xx
Nice goals!
ReplyDelete#4: Have as much fun as often and with as many people as possible.
ReplyDeleteThat wasn't so hard.
re:#2: I've heard of that site/app before. And you know what, maybe I'll be joining you. Yes, I will be joining you if I can get my lazy ass off of its highly comfortable position for a change. Starting January 1st (or 2nd, depends), I'll be doing the same quest as you. We should log our effort on our blogs on a weekly basis, and get as much other people to join in as we possibly can. Challenge accepted?
Some people are just thin. It's ok. men need to relax about that.
ReplyDeleteIf you want extra money sell herbalife. If will help with two of your goals.. Putting on weight and some extra cash. Not kidding. You'd love it. if you want more info email me.
As for goal number 4...
I take it you're in college? Maybe this goal should revolve around your final goal? What is your major? Take you're major and try to find a way to capitalize on it this year. Whether it's grades or staying focused. Not a fun gool. That's why I don't make goals. I never follow through and I suck at them. :)
Doable goals, although watch those online money things, many scams.
ReplyDeleteDo a whole post in rhyme, there you go. That's your 4th goal..haha
Nice resolutions, for your 4th one you should try to find a good source of motivation for whatever you decide to do.
ReplyDeletefor example, one of my sources of motivation when i feel lazy and should be exercising is watching Bruce Lee's movies.
she saw you without shirt just once? :))))
ReplyDeleteNice resolutions! Good luck with that and Happy New Year, DWei!
Happy New Year!!! I think you need to master a basic brownie recipe (unless maybe you have?).
ReplyDelete#4, actually do the resolutions?
ReplyDeleteI don't make resolutions anymore. I never follow tehm, anyway ahaha
ReplyDeletehappy new year!
Happy New Year!! Hope you reach these goals and figure out a fourth. I have an obsession with even numbers and try to always have an even amount of money in my wallet. Weird!
ReplyDeleteI can't really think of any ideas, I'm terrible at resolutions myself. Happy new years anyway.
ReplyDeleteIf you can do 100 push ups after 6 weeks, I'd be so impressed. I remember when I was a gym regular and muscular enough for me to keep at myself in the mirror... I could only do 50. Doesn't mean you couldn't! Good luck in 2012. Bottoms up! (But not at the gym!)
ReplyDeletesmoke weed erryday, slam bitches, get paid.
ReplyDeletelol happy new year!
Good luck with your goals!
ReplyDeleteHmm . . . afraid I can't think of anything as a 4th.
Hope you have a great 2012!
Good luck! I don't know you well enough to suggest anything yet, but I'll be here next year to kick you if you get off track. =P Happy new year!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm the one trying to lose weight, albeit I'm not overweight. I'm just trying to lose some fat and gain some muscle mass.
ReplyDeleteThat's the best you could do, link it with your blog. That might actually even work!
ReplyDeleteFourth goal! I'm kinda at a loss but, how about finishing a game you at some point decided was too difficult/time consuming/whatever by the end of the year? Something like Zork, I dunno.
Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteSeems like some attainable goals. :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't set any resolutions yet.
Have a happy New Year! ;)
ReplyDeleteWell, I share your first and second goal.. (Im skinny and broke as well) And about your 4th one, I promised myself that i'll learn something new about three years ago. Anything at all, so i picked up the guitar and also started learning a little chinese (i live in asia, but im not chinese) and I'm really glad i did it, as you can see from my blog now.
ReplyDeleteMy new years resolution will also be to acquire more money
ReplyDeleteIf you just practice push-ups you'll be quite top heavy, you might want to work on more than just that :P That only counts as a suggestion to amend #1 though!
ReplyDeleteFor #4...I don't know. Find (and read) a new book every week or 2? I'm bad at this!
Happy New Year! :D And good luck with your goals!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! Good luck with the resolutions, I'm sure you can do it. xxx
ReplyDeleteI tried to think hard about that 4th goal of yours and realized that I've been doing Patrick's pose as well. Lulz.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the resolutions. Happy New Year
ReplyDeletewww.thoughtsofpaps.com
for number 4 you should blog everyday, or at least use schedule posts to post for you when you are unable to post
ReplyDeleteThanks for the condolences. Besides that Holidays were good. And yes lots of good recipes to come. I love your precise resolutions, its a great idea. Can,t wait to see the progress. let's see no. could be stress relief like meditation? Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI am in awe of you. Most of us make resolutions but then forget about them shortly thereafter, certainly never reporting just how they're doing in maintaining them.
ReplyDeleteDo you eat young one, really eat? Or are you just a picker- a bit of this and that? If you want to gain muscle you'll have to take in a lot of protein to fuel your exercise efforts.
They're are a lot of programs online like Livestrong.com that can help you figure out how many calories you'll need to get where you want to be. Good luck.
Good luck and HAPPY NEW YEAR ;D
ReplyDeletei hope you had an incredible end and beginig of year.
ReplyDeletegreat post =)
Hello!!! I've popped over to wish you a Happy New Year and to vote for no.3! Go on be daring! Try something new - that book ain't gonna write itself and that meal in that restaurant will just go to waste! Or you could just try the recipe. :-)
ReplyDeleteTake care
x
good luck with those dude, happy new year :D
ReplyDeleteGood luck with everything mate... They won't be laughing when you get most of the goals..
ReplyDeleteHappy new year! Good luck with the resolutions!
ReplyDeleteJust spending consistent time in the gym, with a specific routine and high protein intake will reliably give you muscle gains.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with all of these, I have similar ones.
ReplyDeletelol, I like your suggestions for us. Hmm... You should... I dunno. I'm about as good at coming up with resolution ideas as you seem to be...
ReplyDeletegoal 2. money is nice!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! These are all excellent goals you've set for yourself, getting healthier, saving money, and experiencing new things. I think you're off to a great start!
ReplyDeletefirst of all, those goals are very achievable! you will be able to do them all by next year. be sure to document (blog) your progress.
ReplyDeleteSuggestion for #4: do something altruistic every month such as volunteering at an animal shelter, nursing home or soup kitchen
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way as patrick but it's me sitting in my chair.. :)
ReplyDeletehehe, I must do my resolution too ;] your is very good :) good luck :)
ReplyDeleteFollowed !
Yeah, everybody is going to try to achieve there resolutions. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteGood luck! Hmmmmm...coming up with a resolution is hard! How about reading XX many books? I'll let you decide the number, depending on how avid a reader you are.
ReplyDeletehaha! i loved the patrick star picture!
ReplyDeleteFollowed!
I really like this post, its different, I love how you will keep us all up to date on your progress too :) I also agree with Mark about learning to dance, and the 100 endangered species bit :P also when you get buffed up shave your chest hair in to the outline of Australia
ReplyDeleteLol a funny skinny guy no thats interesting. cool post
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you. Very good New Year's goals. Love that Patrick pic. ;)
