March was nice and clean. It was warming up and most of the snow was gone. And then like some sick joke, it snowed on April Fool's day.
But it got warmer, the snow melted. All was well. It looked like things were back to normal.
Until one week later.
We probably got hit with about 20cm of wet, slushy snow that just coated the area. Trees all over campus were snapping in half and having branches torn off. I even managed to snap a picture or two with my phone before running inside. Because you know, I'm an idiot being in this weather with just a hoodie for protection.
Unfortunately my phone isn't working so here's what the pictures mostly look like.
And for everyone who has had the pleasure of driving in winter conditions you know how the snow melts in the day, becomes a slushy mess to walk through and then freezes during the night.
Well, now we have a driving and walking hazard. Sheets of ice layered all across the city in every conceivable place. Oh, and now the snow isn't nice and soft anymore. It froze overnight too so have fun breaking you fall with one of those.
Pretty much.
But again, things warmed up. The weather got nice again. Rained a bit which is normal. Things are looking good now that my finals are nearly finished. I'll be able to go out and do things with Theresa again.
I look out the window this morning and what do I see.
It's snowing.
Again.
Seriously.
Looks like I can't get a break no matter what I do.
Haha, sorry about that man. But yeah, society has told me that it is never not snowing in Canada.
ReplyDeletei cant do snow.
ReplyDeleteand looks like the Stereotype is true.
Canada: no mercy.
ReplyDeleteSounds tough, but summer's coming up so it should all be over pretty soon. Hang in there!
If i have a lot of money when I'm older I'm moving to Canada. That or Scotland
ReplyDeleteThis snow thing is exactly what happened just over in England for us buddy. They had a week where the temperature in March hit record highs then next week all of a sudden it was cold and snowing again, it's crazy. You Canadians do get it way worse though, I can't deny that.
ReplyDeleteDarn snow! Just kidding. I live in Texas, so I have no idea how evil snow can be.
ReplyDeleteThe snow is fine but in small bloody doses, I feel for you man!
ReplyDeleteYeah nature doesn't seem to like you much :( I think the snow in Canada would attract me to it, but maybe not if it's going to be that bad.
ReplyDeleteEEEEK! I have my own weather issues right now as well. It was 90 out and the ac in the apt was broken yesterday so the temperature inside climbed to 82. NOT FUN.
ReplyDeleteI am happy about no snowing here...
ReplyDeleteDamn, that sucks. It's finally getting warm here in Japan, though. I hope you've seen the last of that snow.
ReplyDeleteSounds pretty bad. Snow after the month of March is usually just a big mess. Over here, the city isn't able to keep the streets and pavements without ice neither
ReplyDeletewe didn't even get snow this year
ReplyDeleteLMAO we had snow a few times in april but it never amounted to much, I guess it all came down up there before it got here. You can keep it!..haha
ReplyDeleteOh my god, I LOVE that polar bear picture.
ReplyDeleteI will stop snowing eventually, I promise!!! Now put your hoodie away and get a real coat for the time being... ;)
It's fault of global warming! xD
ReplyDeleteYikes! Still snowing! It's going to be almost 90 here today! Unfortunately, I'm stuck in the office all day, but oh well!
ReplyDeleteDAMN. Here I am complaining about a little rain, and I see what you have to deal with. Sorry man!
ReplyDeleteI'm from Alberta originally, and the weather has been just the same as we are here in England.
ReplyDeleteWe had a week of really hot weather, then it snowed, then hailstones...now it's just yuk, not knowing what to do.
Grrr, I hate the weather, but I loved the photo of the polar slipping over!
Oh, boy...I'd be ticked off if I saw snow! We have dropped 20º since yesterday...but, thankfully, only rain in the forecast. Spring and summer WILL come :)
ReplyDeletecrazy. It was sunny and 70 here in the PNW over the weekend.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds similar to the situation in England at the minute (minus the snow!). We had a really warm spell a couple of weeks ago, and it actually felt like summer, but then it got really cold again, then warm, then cold...it'll make its mind up one of these days!
ReplyDeleteInvest in a giant blow torch.
ReplyDeleteI hate stereotypes of Canadians! Everyone thinks we all live in Igloos! Thats silly! We have homeless people in Canada! They obviously don't live in Igloos like the rest of us! Crazy! And it doesn't always snow! There was that one time back in the 90's that it didn't snow for like two whole days! (okay maybe a day and a half) Crazy stereotypes!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you survived all your collegiate challenges.
ReplyDeleteBTW-You're always welcome down here kiddo. I've already had on our AC for over a month now.
That would never happen here in Orange County in Southern California, and I do agree, nature is sometimes an asshole.
ReplyDeleteI live in Wisconsin and I understand your pain. Snow sucks. And once it stops snowing it's time to complain about how hot it is.
ReplyDeleteyeah, my cousin (in Canada) always complained about the snowing thingy over there. but I think it's still a good news that no one died because of that, unlike in Italy. I think it was tallied that less 10 died already :(
ReplyDeletenice pics
ReplyDeletelike the line no matter what i cant get break
Snow always has a habit of sneaking up on us. The only time it snowed here before Christmas was the one day I was flying home from university and it caused the airport to shut for three hours... typical.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear it's clearing up now though. Roll on the summer weather!
I like a little snow, but in April? That sucks :(
ReplyDeleteThat polar bear picture CRACKED me up. LMAO
ReplyDeleteand as for mother nature...forget about us...she just doesn't want me to have a good hair day!! haha
So it's not always snowing in canada? :/
ReplyDeleteThe weather here in my country is weird. It's summer here but sometimes, the rains is pouring.
ReplyDeleteLove that polar bear!
ReplyDeleteman, I wish I got as much snow as you during the winter
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it's still rather cool here, I much prefer the cooler dryer weather than the hot sweltering humidity.
ReplyDeleteWhite snow makes me blue. (Snow White does not.) ;)
ReplyDeleteyep, it's cold here too, even though it's April and the flowers are blooming.
ReplyDeleteLol i am really sorry to hear that! In MA it has been 80 the last few days- oh is that considered gloating? ;)
ReplyDeleteI want some snow! But I want it to drift down nice and peacefully... no storms, thank you very much!
ReplyDeleteI hope it stops snowing soon! It's been the opposite here--80s F, which is much too warm for April.
ReplyDelete*Looks out the window in sunny Southern California"
ReplyDeleteWish I could relate buddy...=P
Hope the weather clears up soon.
Lol that cats expression is priceless
ReplyDeleteWait, it doesn't snow everyday in Canada?
ReplyDeleteHopefully in a few months you'll not have this to worry about.
ReplyDeleteWe've had some ridiculous weather here too. 58 to 85 in a day. It really messes with one's head.
ReplyDeleteit's that real tatto
