The Blog has been Modified

I learned a lot in the last few days thanks to the help forums provided. The people are usually very helpful if you can get them to notice your question. They may sound condescending at times but they are there to help, not baby you.

Special thanks to Cade and tsvaishnav if for whatever reason you're still reading this blog.

First things first, if you scroll through my older posts you've see quite a bit of censorship. Words have been changed, images have been modified, etc. etc. all in hopes that someone doesn't get offended and report me. In other words, this blog will be a lot less colourful in the future.

Swear words will be replaced with rainbows or ponies. In this case, both.

I honestly think that finding a person's orientation to be offensive is really pushing the line at best and homophobic at worst. That post had a tag removed which hopefully would appease the kind of individual that could be offended by it. I have no intention of removing or changing the tone of the post, I have my limits.

The next thing that surprised me was the need for a privacy policy. You need this if you are displaying "a form of communication used to persuade an audience to take some action with respect to products, ideas, or services."

Such as this delicious food product.

Going here will provide you with all the information you need to get yours going. You can always take a look at mine if needed but I pretty much just did what the link asked me to do.

Last but not least, in the case that someone does try and sabotage your blog it be a good idea to get StatCounter so you have physical evidence of them being there and messing things up. Mine is on the left sidebar and I've opted to not display pagehits and what not.

And there we go, hopefully I'm safe. I honestly think I'm going a bit over the top here with all this censorship and I honestly believe if someone did have a problem and it was reported I would simply get a notification to remove said material instead of a ban. Let me know what you guys think about this.

And if you see something that offends you on this blog also just let me know instead of reporting it. We're all friends here right?

And ever and ever and ever! (I miss my swear words...)

  1. Hmm, if somebody would be offended about something on my blog and wanted me to remove it, I would just tell him to go f*** (I don't usually censor it, but whatever) himself. Is that really ban worthy? Where's free speech in that?

I'll have to at least place that privacy policy thing somewhere in my blog I guess.

  6. This information is very helpful. The privacy policy is something I probably never would have considered. If I'm not already influencing people's views about, well... salt, for example, I certainly will be.

  8. Ponies offend me! Just kidding. I am kind of wondering what brought this on, I've read all your posts, and I don't remember anything that could have caused this. But I suppose it could be something that kicked off in the comments. Do whatever it takes to stay alive my good man. And remember, ponies = traffic.

  20. Wait. SOMEONE REPORTED YOUR BLOG?

    What the....rainbows?

    Seriously?

Okay, now I'm scared. If they have problems with your blog, which is fun, entertaining, and relatively mild, they're going to send me to prison.

    I hate orange jumpsuits, FYI.

  21. Seems like this is quite the overreaction. Your blog is great and I've never read anything that could even be considered to be offensive. So long as you keep up with the good, interesting posts I don't mind though.

  22. Looks like you are really afraid of getting your earnings obliterated. :P
A year ago I had some picked on my blog, constantly messed with ads and that kind of things, but didn't noticed that It has affected me in any way...so I think that you do not have to worry so much about censorship and that..

P.S. There is something similar on apple market to "CJ: Strike back". It's called City Jumper, but I don't think it comes from the same developer.

  23. That's a lot of work, people should just get on with it, if they don't like it then they should bugger off.

  24. I haven't seen anything offensive here except those ugly little ponies. What's up with that!? ;) If I'm really offended, I'll usually let that person know, but so far, you're good.

  31. Did someone reported you or something?

RAINBOW that idiot, RAINBOW him right in the RAINBOW.

I added a privacy policy section to my blog as well, but that's because I expect to sell commissions and I want the customers to feel safer.

  34. I never noted anything offensive in the past.

If this post is evidence of a "cleaned up version" then I think you won't have any problems keeping us entertained!

  36. My only complaint in life is people who try to censor others!

    ReplyDelete
  37. well thanks for letting us know! some people are just way too trigger happy with bans...

    ReplyDelete
  38. Ya, I use statcounter myself, pretty helpful when you need to know who's been spamming your blog and stuff. Also nice that it's "invisible".

  39. There is a code to remove the navigation bar at the top of your blog, thus preventing other people from clicking "Report Abuse" and making it harder for them to report you.

Watch this video tutorial if you are interested:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCPaClUZRwI

Remember, they could still report you even without the navigation bar but they'll have to go through a lot of effort to do it compared to just clicking "Report Abuse".

  40. I never heard of someone getting banned over coarse language.

  45. You should really be able to express your opinion... well, at least as long as it is legal O_o And thanks for the tips!

    ReplyDelete
  46. If they don't like or if they feel offended why do they come to your blog?

    ReplyDelete
