Holiday Aftermath

If you've read the comments I've left on most of your blogs you probably know by now that my Christmas weekend was pretty uneventful. No really, all I did was spend a few quiet days with family and many hours with my computer.

Come towards the light Damian...

Theresa was busy all weekend so I wasn't able to see her. Luckily I anticipated this and gave her her gifts early which included a hoodie, some TF2 cellphone charms, various games from the Steam Holiday sale and the third volume of popular webcomic.

Myself? I don't expect to receive anything big. Friends got me a lot of games and a foam Minecraft pickaxe, I don't expect anything from my siblings until February (April if I'm unlucky), parents gave me cash and I treated myself to more games.

Thank you Dear for this one.

So, what am I going to do for the rest of the break? Hopefully see as many old friends as possible and take Theresa out on as many dates as I possibly can. Let's hope her boss doesn't keep scheduling her to work for ENTIRE WEEKS. Seriously, she's busy all the time during the school year, give her a break when she has a break.

In the meantime I have more research stuff to do. That paper isn't going to edit itself and neither is that experiment. Gah, I'm so sick of technical errors at this point. Hopefully I'll get things figured out before the term starts again.

Really want to do this to some of the computers at the lab.

I know the rest of you had a relatively more exciting Christmas holiday than me. If all goes well maybe I can get to work on some other things this break and not be a complete waste of waste. There are some recipes I need to try as well as a DIY project I've been eying.

But the computer games, they beckon.

Probably what I'll end up doing.

  3. Exciting? Man, I haven't had an exciting Christmas since I was 8. A happy one though, yes. That's what matters now. That and making kids have the best Christmas ever.

  4. I know what you mean on the diy that you mean to finish. I have most if not all of the parts for a micro cnc sitting in my house I just need to convince myself to sit down and work on it. MW3 is really killing my productivity though.

  8. Nope. Don't feel badly. My holiday was equally uneventful. The highlight of my Christmas Day was talking a very loooong walk in the woods with my puppy. (After all, I had to find SOME way to burn off all that eggnog!)

  11. There's nothing wrong in spending your holiday times doing this as long as you had fun buddy, it's good you had an uneventful one, a lack of events is a lack of trouble after all right haha?

  13. Nothing wrong with playing some games :) sadly I didn't get to see my GF over Christmas either and because the coach station was shut today I have to wait until tomorrow to see her -_- but it did give me time to watch Frasier and play some Baldurs Gate :D

  18. I hate it when good games suddenly pops out when there a deadline coming soon. Instead of working on my projects, I end up playing for hours instead and then do a last minute all-nighter to rush through it.

  24. This post made me laugh.. My sister and I both confessed we hadn't mailed out our gifts to each other yet.. And both joked that we might as well wait until February since we both have birthdays that month! Anyway, enjoy the break! I'm loving not having homework!

  31. Good luck with staying focused on your work! (video games) But more important then your work and video games, I hope you get to date your girlfriend alot! Trust me, thats the most important of the three!

  32. Well usually Christmas weekends are pretty tame, unless its Christmas eve in Tijuana, it was like a damn war zone, I love it!

  33. It's impossible to resist the urge of the computer games. My trick is, as soon as a loading screen comes up, I have to do at least one chore / task. Once it's complete, I can go back to the game until the next loading screen.

  34. I had a quiet Xmas with my family. It was exactly what I wanted.

  36. For once I haven't been bored over Christmas, I have been so busy I have massively neglected anything useful and my blog. Back on it soon definitely... Love that final picture. Hyperbole and a Half is a genius blog, cannot wait for her to finish the book.

  38. Probably a good thing I never got into video/computer games, or my insomnia would be like 10 times worse.... Bad enough I stay up until 4AM reading and watching Squidbillies. o.O

Sounds like you had a nice Christmas. I'll take a quiet Christmas over the one I had any day!

    xo

  39. They make TF2 cellphone charms? Wow...

  40. Sounds like you had a pretty awesome Christmas to me. Shame the missus had to work so much though. Similar situation with Mrs Cranface.

Looks like video games got us both through it!

  41. Im pretty much like you, need to get off the computer.

  42. Christmas was total chaos, but I have kids so it is to be expected. I dream of uneventful Christmases

  43. I think the last time I was excited about Christmas I was opening my Nintendo Entertainment System from "santa". Yeah, the original NES. Since then, well, I wake up at 11, make some coffee, and plop down in front of the XBox. Which isn't very exciting, but works just fine for me.

  44. Sorry to hear that it was uneventful. And sorry that you still have to work on that damn paper and research.

I've been loving the steam sale myself, just picked up Killing Floor with my friends, which is actually a lot more fun than I thought it would be. I love co-op games.

  45. I wish I got a present, full stop. Alas, I can just buy stuff from Steam, it's practically gifting games at such low prices.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Jealous of your foam pickaxe! Enjoy your new games(:

  47. Pace your workload kiddo and make sure to have lotsa fun while you can. Your paper will still be there.

  50. My dad sent me some money too, fully expecting a random package from my mum though. Last time I got instant coffee, tooth picks and some band-aids from her.

  51. I received a laptop computer for Christmas, so needless to say I have been reclusive.

Do a minimum of one thing the world considers productive so that you can feel proud of yourself for the effort, then return to the games. Have fun on your break!

  52. I got the flu right after Christmas, so I've been pretty much glued to BF3.
