Reading Week

Ah, University's equivalent of Spring Break has arrived and I'm looking forward to it. It's always nice to have a bit of a breather to catch up and get your bearings back. I've been trying to do several things, the first of which is sleep in.

Which is exactly what I did over the weekend. My parents hate it when I sleep in past noon because they think I'm wasting the day away. Well, I guess in a sense I am but I see no issue with this if I'm up during the night doing work.

I prefer to work during the night, so sue me.

But being free gives me time to visit with old friends and catch up with them as well. Whether this is via gaming or going for beers, I'm not too picky. Well, catching up with people that actually make an effort to get back in touch with you. Some people are really annoying in that they'll complain how they're losing touch with all their friends and yet do nothing about it. Not sure why it would take someone over 24 hours to respond to a text.

But I guess that's better than people who don't reply. I have another friend who I've been trying to get a hold of but it's clear she's ignoring me. I remember her saying once that if Theresa and I broke up she'd never talk to either of us again. I don't see the logic behind this, but I guess she's staying true to her word.

She always was a bit crazy if that helps explain anything.

Lastly I have plenty of time to get as much work done as possible on my respective projects. Things have been getting delayed due to various unforeseen circumstances. I'm aiming to have at least 5000 words in total written for all writing projects, and time will be allotted to the projects as opportunities become available.

Oh right, I have another midterm to study for after the break ends. Sigh. Fun times.

  1. I recently started reconnecting with an old friend who was always the "I hate losing touch with you but I won't make any effort to keep in touch with you" type. But she is genuinely apologetic and trying to be bros again, which is making up for it.

  2. Well they don't call it Reading Week for nothing. Your mistake here was thinking you might actually get some free time. When we do our end of school exams we only have to come in on those days and so people regard the rest of them like a holiday, but the actual people with common sense use it to study. Still, you can manage to get plenty of stuff done I hope. You're not wasting the day if you're utilizing the night.

  4. Reasons for not answering a text: forgot to charge phone, left phone at the office (or home), forgot to turn it on. Don't ask me how I know these things can happen, innocently. :)

  5. I'm sorry to hear that you and Theresa broke up...but I wouldn't be surprised to see you back together eventually. And I had to giggle when I read that your parents dislike you sleeping past noon. When my youngest is home from college, I yell upstairs at noon to get him out of bed...must be some universal thing us moms feel :)

  6. Nice to catch up with friends you haven't seen in a while. And bah, sleep in until noon, when you get a job those days are over.

  9. I'm with you in the whole working at night thing, to me it's much better than day time working, plus it's acceptable to sleep in during the day if you've been working hard at night. Enjoy your week of freedom mate.

  15. I usually stop the effort with people who don't give back. It ends awkward if you insist, I find. Enjoy your studies!

  19. Enjoy your spring break! Not sure why that one friend would "break up" with both you and Theresa... but sounds like she's not that great of a friend anyway - so no big loss!

  21. Scumbag body - works best at night, makes you feel bad for sleeping in past noon. I do about 90% of my writing at night. Can't seem to focus otherwise.
