The End of Summer

I think this is the first time in 2 years that I've been this late for a post. In fact, I just realized that I missed my 2 year blogging anniversary several weeks ago. Oops. So before we begin this post, happy 2 years to me. I fully intend to keep on blogging (when the time permits) and hopefully will be able to keep visiting everyone.

Thanks to everyone who's joined on me on this ride so far. It's much appreciated.

I'm secretly a corgi and I've fooled you all.

There have been two reasons why my blog has taken a backseat this last week. First, I'm no longer able to stay up until 3AM (or later) in the morning checking up on everyone or writing posts. No a problem, just do it before midnight like a sane person would.

And I would, except summer is coming to an end, and with that, it means that everyone who is returning to school in the fall is going to get busy or fly across to the country back to their campus. This is pretty much the last time I can see them again before things get too hectic.

It's really disconcerting actually, considering that for the last 18 years or so of my life, I've been going back to classes in the fall. Not that that's a bad thing. I used to pay to suffer from sleep deprivation and stress, now, I'm being paid to deal with idiots. It's a good trade in my eyes.

A drink after a long day of work is acceptable, not so much for classes.

There was a 5 year reunion recently as well and about a third of my graduating class showed up. That's the great thing about only having 100 classmates I guess, you know everyone and luckily, most of us get along.

It's strange, 1 of us has already gotten married, another got engaged. Someone has traveled the world while many of the others are on their way to becoming successful doctors, engineers, and teachers. A few are even working on their PhD's in the fall. I didn't expect anything less from my peers though I feel like I've fallen a bit short. The Psychologist who has taken some time off to work in an unrelated field.

At least I'll have money and not be in debt.

Went out for many dinners and many drinks. It'll be a while before I see some of these guys again. Maybe in a few years I'll head back to school in the fall but it'll most likely have to be at an out of province University, especially considering that the University in my province announced additional budget cuts.

For anyone wondering about my new job, things are going well and I'm almost done my training. They tell me that I'm amongst the fastest (if not the fastest) learner they've had so far, which is a good thing I think. I already have a few stories to share though it's going to be a challenge, spreading out my evening hours between sleeping, blogging, and my projects.

  2. Sometimes people go on to further studies because they can't get a job. Says the person with a BA Hons PGCE after their name.

  5. I haven't seen my friends from university in a long time, and it sucks. I don't blame you for trying to see them as much as possible while you can.
It seems like you're doing well in your new job, keep it up! :)

  6. Sounds like happy fun times with friends then. Always a shame for these times to come to an end, but hey, you can start looking forward to the next vacation!

  8. It's alright that you've been a bit MIA. I think spending time with people you might not see again for quite some time is definitely a good reason. It does feel a little odd to take time away from your studies and feel like you're falling behind but you'll get back there.

  13. Being busy is always good, even if that means the blog takes a backseat. I'd rather be busy and short on blogging time than bored out of my skull with nothing to blog about.

And hey, cheers to two years! In the blogging world that's, like, an eternity practically.

  14. at least you blog on a regular basis. I couldn't count the number of folks (and many of them used to post here) they just disappeared forever or had a comeback for a week and then vanished yet again.

  16. Wait until you go to a reunion and count the number of people who need walkers.
With the beginning of school, my time on Blogger will be reduced, as well. No staying up past midnight for me, no sir.

  18. Yeah buddy with how busy work is I haven't been expecting to hear from you too much although that's not what I want obviously. But yeah so long as things are going good then there's no problems, I hadn't thought about the need to see friends before they go too so it justifies it even more. Happy two year anniversary too on here, your life has changed so much since you started!

  19. Woah dangit man this just reminded me I missed my blog anniversary by at least ten days, probably more by the time I post to acknowledge it which makes me sad, two years has been a long time for me too.

  20. It's sounds like you're transitioning well into the working world. Glad you spent some quality time with your former classmates...I love high school reunions :)

  21. Believe me, not being in debt is a VERY good thing. I know people with multiple degrees who have been unemployed. It's hard not to compare yourself to others sometimes (trust me, I know,) but do what makes you happy.

  23. Happy 2 years. I stopped celebrating, but I always check the calendar for the birthday. Little high-five to myself every year.

Everyone paints themselves in such a pretty portrait when they're young. They'll mention their road, but not the struggles. Gotta realize that. You're making money, you're doing a lot better than most.
