Systems Functional

This is extremely awkward posting once a week. But no more! Thanks to my friend Terry (who some of you may remember also helped me with car hunting a few months back), my computer is virtually back to normal. He had to disassemble my hard drive though, fix some of the damage in my manic attempts at repair, and reinstall most of the software.

He got a steak dinner out of it. So I think we're even.

Help me out and I feed you. Good deal.

So while it's great that I can finally start blogging consistently again (and following up on everyone), January has not been a very productive month for anything that require the use of my desktop computer. My laptop doesn't have the power to do anything from Project Pandering or the information to help with Project Raven.

Which only leaves Project Derp which can be done from anything with a keyboard, and Project Jason which requires a gym.

I know I've been talking about working out a lot, but it's probably the most interesting thing that I do the most of these days. I'm averaging 4 times a week, with a maximum of 6. I'm constantly in a state of pain but it's a good sort of pain.

I only need Sunday to rest right? Right?

My biggest problem is still maintaining weight. One weekend I pushed myself and was eating 3 kilo-calories a day.

And lost a pound the following Monday.

Discouraged, I slowed down on eating, which reduced my diet down to 2kcal and I lost an additional 4 pounds by Wednesday.

I'm bumping it up to 3.5kcal a day in hopes that some of the weight will start staying with me. I don't expect any sympathy from you guys. I have an unorthodox problem here. I'm counting the calories of everything I eat to make sure I'm getting enough. I'm reading nutritional charts at restaurants and ordering the items with the most calories.

And this still isn't enough. At the end of the night, you can find me chugging down a litre of chocolate or homogenized milk to help hit my caloric goals.


I`ll never be like Joesph Gordon-Levitt at this rate.

But the increase in eating is helping somewhere I think. I am noticing a bit more size gain this month and I kind of wish I took a progress pic when I started back in August so I could compare. I was kind of embarrassed at how thin I looked so I opted out.

Ah well, what can you do. Posting should be back to normal now and I actually do have other things to discuss. I`m excited to finally talk about Project Derp and my experience so far with the ridiculous Dogecoin.

  1. If I could offer something to help then it would be the site myfitnesspal.com/co.uk. They're who I keep track of calories with and when you've finished logging all your food for the day, they calculate your weight loss/gain. It sounds to me like you're just over exercising. Or maybe you had more body fat than you thought and it's still not all gone yet. Or maybe muscle is just lighter than fat. There's probably a number of reasons really. A trip to the doctor probably wouldn't go amiss either.

  4. It is a pain in the arse, but at least you don't have the opposite and nothing will turn into muscle because you're so fat.

  6. Hey now, better to have that metabolism than not. It sucks now because it seems like weight gain is impossible, but once you finally start bulking up a little and all you gain is muscle - no fat - I think you'll be a happy camper.

  7. Have you tried those special calorie shakes or whatever they are?
    Also, remember to give your body some solid rest once in a while. Sure working out is great and all, but the rest really allows muscles and such to grow. Not talking an afternoon nap or a day off, but take a couple days for this.

  10. Don't feel too discouraged with working about, maybe you just need to fine tune the diet more. From your post, you're specifying calories but nothing else. If I understand it right (that you're trying to bulk up) you might want to take a stronger look at your protein intake among other things, since it'll help you repair damaged muscle faster.

    When I was around 18 - 19, I decided I wanted to put on a bit more weight and muscle, and the solution that ended up working after trying one or two others was just that. I drank protein shakes every gym trip consistently for 6 weeks (going about 4 times a week then). I saw notable weight and muscle gain. From there, I have just maintained, and it worked great.

    Remember. Every body is going to be different and have different nutrition requirements. Just look at what you want and play with a few options. Don't give up!

  13. I guess the chocolate milk calories still count, but it's not the best for you either. I guess you're more likely to keep more calories if you consume them at night, but I don't really think the goal is to keep calories, but to have the calories to burn. If you're gonna have something full of your needs, you might as well have it during the mornings to buff up your breakfast, no?

  19. You have to be really dedicated to keep gorging yourself on all those calories. I could never do it, because it just becomes your whole life trying to get enough calories. But for some people it comes naturally, I suppose.

  22. Sounds like you are dong well with weight loss. I was watching one of Jillian Michaels shows and she said the only way to lose is to burn more then you eat. You seem to be doing that.
    Good luck with the weight loss. It is a painful but rewarding process.
