Round 2 of Midterms

I really can't be complaining, I only have one midterm this week and one more next week before finals start. I have a way better deal than my sister who has 3 this week and all my friends in medicine who are being bombarded with labs and tests.

I really have no motivation left to study though.

I mean I'll still do it but the energy and the drive that I used to have it just gone. I get distracted way too easily, I don't feel like I care anymore. I just want this to be done with so I can get back to doing something else.

But there really isn't anything else for me besides studying. I don't have a job lined up like some other people and in this economy, it's unlikely I can find one without going for more school. And if I want to continue studying, I need to keep my grades up.

It's kind of sad, studying is all I've known and I'm just sick of it.

Ughh....

So it's back to forcing myself to my textbooks and papers. I don't know how many more years of school I'd need to do, I'm really not looking forward to this.

It's slightly ironic because we were looking at this exact phenomenon in the class I'm studying for. I'm not the only one stuck in this loop of trying to get more education in hopes of grabbing ANY job once we're done.

I mean I have a friend who graduated with an honors degree and is struggling to grab a job as a sales associate.

And I only have a specialization degree.

So back to studying I guess. I haven't been feeling mentally well lately and I guess it shows.

  1. I feel like your semesters for university up in Canada are a little different than down here in the states. Right about now is Midterm season for my friends who are still attending uni: they don't have to worry about finals until May. Then again, that's really not that far...

  2. If you don't study you'll fail life. You'll end up on the street begging money by playing guitar.
    I hope that's motivation.

  3. Don't get discouraged! Education always pays off in the end.

  4. You need something fun to do if you find time between all the studying. You have all these other projects going on so it's not too surprising to me that you have other things you want to be doing and you're getting tired of studying.

  5. Just remember, one day you'll look back and laugh as you think, "I can't remember what it was like to have to study for something." Your hard work will pay off. Just don't settle for a sales associate job after all is said and done.

  6. Some days it can be a drain, and yeah the job market is scarce, all comes down to who you know or sometimes pure dumb luck.

  7. Just keep on studying man. I know that it's miserable right now but things will get better buddy, remember you won't be doing this studying for your entire life. I do understand how much having to study sucks though, I hated it, it's funny that studying basically combines the word student and dying and honestly it's apt.

  8. Oh oh same.
I didn't know projects and studies could be so vindictive but once you get down to doing them, they suck your soul out.Or at least try their best to.
But you'll do fine with the job part,I'm sure.:)

  9. Hey I'm sorry, I hope it gets better soon. But with everything you've gone through, that's too be expected.

  10. I realized in my fourth year of university that a bachelor's degree in psychology would qualify me for nothing. It wasn't easy to sign on for six years of grad school, but in the end it was worth it.

  11. I'm sorry you've got so much studying to do. Hope something comes up that changes things for the better!

  12. I remember feeling the same way you do. I would like to be able to tell you that things will get better. Sadly, we both know better than that. Well, try and have a good day.

  13. Not having drive to study isn't all that bad, it's kinda normal. Where you're really gonna need it is when you start going for real jobs. Without drive, where else could you end up? Take it easy while you can, but I'm sure you'll be alright.

  16. I had a calculus midterm today where I completely lost track of time and when time was called, I was still on page 2/6.

And the most frustrating part was that I knew how to do all the problems.

It's been a long time since I've cried after a test wow...

  20. You do have a lot on your plate - things to do, things to decide - and that creates a little stress on its own. Take a few hours of downtime over the weekend to de-stress. Should help.

  21. I hope you have spring break soon. My youngest just got finished with a ton of tests, but the bonus was a week off!

  22. Ack. I remember those day and I'll tell you something scary. They will haunt your dreams for years... I still study in my sleep or panic I forgot one of my finals.

  23. That is what is hard with this economy; you put out a great effort to get good grades and then you can't even land a job; it has to be so frustrating!! But I have to agree, studying would get old after a time especially if you decided you'd have to continue your schooling to get any decent chance of a job.

  25. think of it this way. If everyone thinks it is hopeless then study and work at the job not many people applied to.

  26. The initials after my name are BA (Hons) PGCE, and I'm a dj. Ha, that says it all. Still, I don't regret getting an education.
